True, I need to get some fertilizer to spread all over you first. [He teases with a snicker.]

White lilies, huh? I think that's a great flower.

Think I could have one sprout out of the top of my head?

[goldenglasses]

Maybe if you try to think about it really, realy hard. Here, I'll help. [He scoops up a bit more dirt with the intention of dumping it onto his brother's head.]

[Knives glares and moves to stand.]

Don't even think it...

[goldenglasses]

Think of what? This? [Yup. He's going for it. Knives better stand up quickly.]

[arkfall]

[Knives is usually the graceful one of the two, but the way his limbs move to get away now it's almost like he's flailing the same way Vash might.]

No!

[goldenglasses]

[Laughing so hard Vash doesn't care if any of it lands on his brother's head at this point.] What? Flowers need soil!

[arkfall]

I'm not actually a flower. [Of course, they both know that, and he's grinning more than anything.]

[goldenglasses]

Plants need water too. Hmm, maybe there's a pond around here I can throw you into.

[arkfall]

If you do, I'm taking you down with me.

[goldenglasses]

I'd like to see you try! [He says with a laugh.] But I'll wait to dunk you in until after these are planted.

[arkfall]

Good.

You put the dirt down too, and we'll focus on keeping these children alive.

[goldenglasses]

I'm excited to see them grow. [He brushes his hands free of dirt to show Knives that he's surrendering.]

[arkfall]

[Knives settles back near the planting area and focuses on finishing the task.]

You'll be able to see some of that today.

[goldenglasses]

Are you sure we should? [He frowns briefly once more.] I don't want you to use up too much of your energy.

[arkfall]

You can do it instead.

[goldenglasses]

If I go too far? Or, well, you won't let me go too far, will you?

[arkfall]

I don't think it will come to that, but yes. I'll stop you if you start going too far.

[goldenglasses]

[With a nod of his head Vash looks down at the plants before he looks back towards his brother.] Any pointers on how to start?

[arkfall]

You can hold your breath right? And let it out slowly? It's like that.

[goldenglasses]

Yeah, okay. [He takes a deep breath and let's it out again slowly.] Here we go then.

[A bit nervously Vash reaches forward. He's never consciously called for his own power before now. It's always been forced from him or triggered in moments of extreme stress. Due to his lack of experience it will take him a little bit to centre his thoughts enough to actually tap into it. Eventually, with another long exhale of breath, a timid stream of energy will begin to move from Vash's core, down his arm, and out to the newly planted flowers.]

[Knives watches him closely. He starts because he promised Vash that he would protect the world around them from his power, but he ends up feeling completely enraptured by the scene.

Vash's power is so incredible and beautiful. Watching Vash work with it reminds him so much of the double - that beautiful, tempting version of his brother who had tasted so nice.

He has tears in his eyes but he doesn't blink them away out of fear that he'll miss a second of this.]

[At first Vash misses the look in his brother's eyes. Too enraptured by what he was doing. Shocked by how... nice this actually felt. That burning heat, the maddening rush, and throbbing pain that he had grown accustomed to how his abilities worked was completely gone and replaced with a warm, tingling, and intoxicating feeling instead. What a difference it made when he simply let go and resonated with his power rather than fight against it. It this what Knives felt? Is this why he had such a hard time talking his brother from using their natural abilities.

For the first time in a very long time Vash feels like he might understand his brother that little bit more.

The flow of energy becomes a bit more confident by the minute. Now Vash can see the flowers perking up thanks to his touch.] Whoa... [Vash the Stampede is currently at a loss for words.]

[arkfall]

[Knives takes a deep breath, realizing he had been holding it in. He nods and fights the urge to touch Vash.

He worries that his touch will bring back terrible memories surrounding their powers.

He feels one of those tears fall and wipes it away quickly.]

I know. It's wonderful, isn't it?
