I thought start simple. It has some good points on how to start and explains the basics really well! Like don't be a jerk and think about the other person's feelings.
And I think you do need to know. Especially in this city.
[Vash instantly thinks of Ralph. He had mentioned that he met Knives.] Is it Ralph? Ralph is nice, but I hope you two are doing more than talking about humans together.
[Vash gets the feeling this is a terrible pair together.]
THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEAN AND YOU KNOW IT! [This one comes instantly screaming over their mental link. Vash is currently several floors up right now and within range.]
Don't worry about it. It was a spur the moment kind of thought that came up when I saw the little tree. I didn't expect anything and I'm sure you didn't either.
Yeah. Me either. [Vash tries to keep his tone casual and relax. Trying to not bring attention to the way Knives reacted.] I'll let you get ready for your company.
Knives isn't sure how he can trust that suggestion and Vash can probably feel his skepticism radiating even with the distance between them. But he doesn't make a sarcastic comment, and that's probably a sign of growth.
Then there's a knock at his door. He's here. Might not want to eavesdrop now, brother.
Because he is going to at least tease Vash a bit - even if he has to use his own sex life to do so.

I already have someone to help me out with that.
[And he is totally not going to share details with you Vash because that's gross.]

[He doesn't really want details. He's just shocked (and slightly jealous) that Knives beat how long it took Vash to find someone.
It just wasn't fair!]

There are quite a few non-humans here. It turned out to be easy to find one I liked.
[He doesn't usually 'like' people. Feeling that way is brand new, and admittedly rather nice.]

[SO JEALOUS.]
If they like chocolate you can share the cake with them.

I'm surprised he eats. I wasn't sure that was something androids do.

Do you have to yell?
[That's rich coming from him. He's usually the one yelling at Vash.]
no subject
[Although Vash relents just a little bit.] Anyway. Happy birthday. I hope you enjoy the cake.

I didn't get you anything.
I didn't realize we were doing gifts.

[There's a harshness to the word, like it has sharp edges. It's not really directed at Vash though, it's more inward.]

Figure out a way to celebrate together.
Some time.
