[Vash listens quietly. Pulling the tab on his beer and taking a couple sips. Walking over to sit next to Knives as he finishes. He doesn't answer right away as he thinks over what he's just been told.] If you were told that to keep me your Vash would die. Would you still keep me over him?

No wrong answer. Mostly curious. So tell me what your gut choice would be.

[The question causes Knives real anguish and he feels miserable even considering it. It feels like something this world really would do to him.]

No... I.... I couldn't do that to him.

[Vash nods as if satisfied.] Then remember that if you wake up one day with your brother back. And don't give up on him. Me and my brother often fight, maybe not as bad as you two, but with time we always work through our problems.

I'd imagine that you would.

He better appreciate you.

[Vash's lip curls up with a smirk.] Oh, trust me, he does, often.

Good. Because you deserve it.

[With his chest slightly puff out Vash smirks.] Yeah. I know. I'm pretty great. [And without any shame.]

[Knives chuckles lightly, enjoying his brother's confidence.]

And somehow you manage to make me feel better because of it.

Hey, what else are little brothers from another world suppose to do? [He says with a snicker.] Besides a moopy Knives is no fun!

Moopy Knives is pretty much my standard operating mode now.

Maybe for now, but that can change. Oh! What if we started to go on walks together around the parks? That might be fun! Give you something to look forward to each day?

[Knives's whole body relaxes a bit.]

Yes. I'd like that.

Let's start tomorrow. Okay? Whenever we both get up and ready for the day.

[Knives nods, accepting that. He still thinks something is going to have to happen to ruin this, but for now, it feels good to have this promise of closeness from Vash. Even if it's not his Vash.]

It's too bad it's not spring. We could make some flowers grow. [They could do it now too, but it would take more energy and that seems like a waste of his meager resources.]

Like you do with the plants in the apartment? [He's suspected Knives had something to do with the way their plants seem healthy and strong all year round.] I-- I think I would like learning that from you. [It was a surprise to Vash. Not that it was hard to say and admit, but hard to admit that he would be excited to learn how to use any of his powers.]

[Knives' brow rasies a bit.]

Would you?

[Vash hesitates before answering.] It would be nice to learn something we can do that's not... destructive.

All right then. Let's do that. Once the weather gets better, anyway. It will take less energy then.

Sounds good. [Although he's still nervous about actively using his powers. Truthfully he'd rather not learn anything at all, but Vash know it's not fair to expect Knives to do all of the changing. He has to give a little too.] And you're not allowed to laugh if I'm really bad at it.

Okay, maybe you can just a little.

[If anything, it might make him sad that Vash is so terrible at using his abilities. At least that's better than the anger he would have felt before.]

Then when you think it will be a good day for it I'll be ready to learn. [He hopes. It was easy to say he'll try more with his powers it was another to actually do it.]
