[Knives raises his brow at Vash.] The future is either here or some other terrible pocket world that uses others for experimentation. Hardly worth seeing.

That's not the only options. We could find another place to go. There are hundreds of worlds that this place pulls from. Maybe you could go to any of those instead.

And then do what?

Live your life. Relax a little. Find some hobbies you enjoy. Start a garden of your very one! One as big as a forest!

[He makes a sort of dark, amused sound.]

So... you want me to do the thing I wanted to do at the very start? Hm? Find a nice quiet world and build a paradise there?

Build a paradise? Yes. Murder to get what you want? No. You just took the idea to the wrong extreme back home.

[Knives sighs and rubs his forehead, smearing dirt against his head.]

[He wants to continue this argument, but seeing that dirt on his brother's head makes him laugh. He wants today to be a good day so he lets it drop in order to laugh.] You do know we're not here to plant you today, right brother?

[Knives just looks confused.

But he does find that he likes the sound of the laughter.]

Aren't we? Maybe I can soak up all the nutrients from the soil.

[Vash stares for a bit. Unable to tell if that is a joke or if it was actually possible.] Is-- do you think that's something we can actually do?

[Knives chuckled despite himself.] No. If it were that easy to recharge us, humans would be burying our sisters all the time.

I mean; that would have been really handy if it was that easy. I promise I would have come by to water you every day.

[That gets a full laugh out of him, and he's surprised by how normal it sounds.]

Good. Fresh water, sunlight, other plants to keep me company. Maybe that's what I want as a retirement.

I wonder what kind of flowers you would bloom. [He grabs a bit of dirt and tosses it at his brother.]

Hey, don't waste that. [Knives protests, but he still scoops up some of his own to toss at Vash.]

And white lilies.

True, I need to get some fertilizer to spread all over you first. [He teases with a snicker.]

White lilies, huh? I think that's a great flower.

Think I could have one sprout out of the top of my head?

Maybe if you try to think about it really, realy hard. Here, I'll help. [He scoops up a bit more dirt with the intention of dumping it onto his brother's head.]

[Knives glares and moves to stand.]

[Knives is usually the graceful one of the two, but the way his limbs move to get away now it's almost like he's flailing the same way Vash might.]
