That's insane, Vash.

No, acting like I would be gone or dead just because I changed species is insane.

You would be gone. The thing that would be in your place might have achieved your dream of gaining humanity but it would not be you.

I am more than what I am! [He doesn't hide how much this hurts. That it seems to him that his brother cares more about what he is rather than who he is.] I am a person first and a Plant second. Even if I wasn't Plant I'd still be your brother! Does that really not mean anything to you!?

I'm telling you that those two things are instinctually linked. Changing what you are fundamentally changes who you are. I'm not sure why you seem offended by that concept.

Tomoe seems to me like the exact same personality she's always been. Maybe Plants and humans have the same brain chemistry.

And that's a problem. It shouldn't matter what I am, but who I am. Even if I'm changed I'm still your brother. I would still love you as a brother. I would still be me deep down.
