Backdated to their birthday

[On the twin's birthdays Knives will get a package. A small gift-wrapped box with a birthday card included.

The card will read: Happy Birthday, Brother.

Pick a day and we'll plant these together in a way that only we can do.

The card will likely make more sense when he opens the gifts. A few homemade cupcakes are inside along with some daffodil seeds. Vash picked these flowers for a reason but unless Knives knows much about what flowers are supposed to represent then he might not know that Vash picked these flowers because they mean hope. The hope he has in the future they are making together.]

[Knives is still perplexed when Vash does this, even though it's not the first time he's had surprise gifts waiting for him on a certain day. He still isn't used to the idea and so Vash has no gifts for his brother.

Instead, he texts Vash later in the day.]

I'm free today if you want to plant them now.

[Vash had suspected his brother would suggest planting the seeds the same day he got them, but he was still nervous. What if something went wrong? What if he lost control and destroyed the city?

Taking a deep breath and pushing those negative thoughts from his mind he replies to his brother.] Sure, it will probably take me about an hour to get to you. Shall I meet you at one of the parks?

[Knives sends him which park to meet at.]

See you in an hour.

[Vash will show up right on time at the agreed meeting spot. He doesn't try to hide his emotions from his brother today so Knives will likely pick up on the way his twin is currently feeling a mix of excited nervousness for their meeting.] This looks like a pretty good spot.

[Knives nods once. His own emotions are distant, as he's keeping them tightly in place.]

It is. [He agrees.] We have to make sure people won't just uproot the plants later.

[goldenglasses]

I don't think we need to worry about that here. [Vash looks towards the seeds he's gifted his brother. His nervousness growing and starting to overpower his excitement a little bit.] So... any pointers I should know about?

[arkfall]

About planting? [He tilts his head.] You said you wanted us to do this our way, but I think to conserve energy we should plant them normally then use our bodies to give them a push towards growing properly.

Does that sound good? Less for you to be nervous about.

[goldenglasses]

[Vash can't help but to chuckle in mild embarrassment. Reaching back to scratch at the back of his neck.] That obvious is it? [He knows full well it is.] Sorry, I do want to learn, but yeah! Let's plant them normally first. That sounds like fun.

[arkfall]

[Knives brought some of his own gardening supplies which he has in a pack with him at his feet. He picks up the strap and picks it over his shoulder so they can walk to find a place where the plants can thrive.]

[Opps. That was rude. He clears his throat and tries again.] I, uh, I mean you did? That's great! What kind of work are you doing?

[Knives scratches his ear in an irritated kind of way, but he doesn't say anything about Vash's reaction.]

This. Working with plants.

[goldenglasses]

[He's sorry for thinking you were too lazy to get a job!]

Really? That's great! [Vash had been mowing lawns until some problems with his contract came up. So he had a feeling this might be a good fit for his brother.] How are you finding it so far?

[arkfall]

Fine as long as no one speaks with me.

[goldenglasses]

[Vash can't help but let out a brief burst of light laughter.] Be glad you skipped out on trying a retail job then.

[arkfall]

[He makes a face.] Could you imagine? Customer service? That would solidify that this is hell.

[goldenglasses]

[Considering the customer service jobs Vash has had in the past? He simply shakes his head with amusement.] I'm sure some people think that way.

What else have you been up to lately?

[arkfall]

[Knives is quiet for a moment. He takes the time to settle down in a spot in the dirt and open his pack.]

Nothing else new worth mentioning.

[Vash kneels down next to his brother. Watching what comes out of the pack.]

I noticed Legato has woken up. [The asshole.] I hope he's doing better. It had to be unsettling sleeping for so long. [The asshole.]

[arkfall]

[Knives manages not to react in any way to the mention of Legato, even if it brings to mind memories of what he and Legato did right after he woke.]

At least he didn't have nightmares at that time...

[goldenglasses]

Yeah... [Vash probably should feel bad about the fact Legato has nightmares every night. Should understand how Legato might feel as Vash suffers the same fate, but he just can't bring himself to feel bad.] ...at least there's that. It would have been awful to be stuck asleep for so long and with nothing but nightmares.

[Knives pauses his work and looks at Vash for a moment.]

His waking hours are filled with nightmares enough.

[goldenglasses]

[Vash snorts.] Those he makes himself. [The words are bitterly spoken under his breath before he can think twice about what he was saying and to who.]

[Knives is quiet and very still. He stares at Vash with narrowed eyes.]

Yes. Because nothing at all about this world would be upsetting for someone who was once a child sex slave.
